Identity in Christ: ”I am the Light of the World”

Matthew 28:16-20

Matthew 5:14-16 

“We are the light of the World.”

Why does God make men and women to be the light to other men and women in the world?

By making His people light-givers to the world He is protecting us from many evils.

First, He is protecting us from selfishness while guiding us in godliness

Second, He is protecting us from turning the church into an island of isolation.

Matthew 5:14-15 

“Salvation is both an event and a process: it is an accomplished fact, a continuing walk, and a future hope.”

Third, He is protecting us from separating ourselves completely from the world.

Fourth, He is protecting us from developing a mindset of fatalism.

Finally, He is protecting us from developing an extreme longing for heaven.
